I took these photos a couple of days ago. It was the 2nd or 3rd time that Apollo had found this hedgehog in this hole. At the time, my husband, Steve, said, “Suppose these will end up on #LinkedIn with some sort of business analogy.” And I thought, “No, they’re just cute photos that I will share on Facebook” – which I promptly did!
But he was right because last night I woke up in the middle of the night & it came to me – what these photos reminded me of. That fabulous quote by Portia Nelson, about self responsibility:
“I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost… I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don’t see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in the same place.
But, it isn’t my fault.
It still takes me a long time to get out.
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in. It’s a habit.
My eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault. I get out immediately.
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.
I walk down another street.”

What are you choosing in your life right now?
Today I shared this on LinkedIn but I also thought it worthy of a blog 🙂
