Most of all I hope it gives you pragmatic inspiration & helps you on your journey to doing what you love, with people you love, making a huge difference, being compensated appropriately with time to pursue other passions – #TheEOSLife.

Here’s this week’s business tip, life hack & find of the week… Some of them are original, most are things I have come across in my weekly pursuit of self-improvement & living a better life, through creating a better business. And don’t forget the inspirational quote, which you can download as a wallpaper or lock screen for your phone.

As always, if you find great things that you’d like to share then feel free to email me for inclusion in one of my weekly newsletters. I’m always looking for new & exciting things to share each week. And if you think someone else would like to receive the newsletter in their inbox, directly from my inbox (no newsletter apps used here!) then please let me know – debra@debrachantry-taylor.com

BETTER BUSINESS

Recession is another word for Opportunity

Recession is another word for Opportunity

In the past few weeks, I have been doing a lot of talks & speaking on expert panels about the impending Recession & what it means for NZ & Australian businesses.

As usual, the media is playing up all the negativity & people are fearful of what a recession may bring. If you’re wanting to go down that route, then this article probably isn’t for you.

Because I believe that if you’re a business owner, then recession is just another word for opportunity.

What, am I crazy?

Read the full article to find out why I think this is a great opportunity.

BETTER LIFE

How I increased my productivity

You’ve heard the saying ‘work smarter, not harder’. Sometimes I have too many things going on that I forget what I must do. I’ve been implementing these 10 lifehacks to help me stay focused and increase my productivity. A few of my favourites are:

  • Get a virtual assistant – Delegation will free up your brain to focus better.
  • Schedule some deep learning time – Continuing to learn is also essential; I hold a workshop each month, feel free to join. Send me an email or head to my website.
  • Begin my day with the most challenging task – This stops me from procrastinating; everything else feels just a tad easier once it’s done.

FIND OF THE WEEK

The GEN Unconference

I am proud to announce that Adam Harris, fellow EOS Implementer & I are sponsoring the GEN (Global Entrepreneurs’ Network) Conference in Wellington on the 3rd & 4th of March.

After going virtual in 2022, we’re back kanohi ki te kanohi / face to face to learn from each other about the art and science of entrepreneurship and how to improve our entrepreneurial ecosystem. After years of pandemic-induced isolation, we know you’ll want to come and join your ecosystem colleagues for a barely controlled explosion of entrepreneurial energy.

Our main annual event, the Unconference on Saturday, 4 March, brings together people from all over the country and the various niches in the entrepreneurial ecosystem to collaborate on how we can connect entrepreneurs to the resources and people they need to thrive, locally and globally. At an unconference, you set the agenda – and we’ll be soliciting ideas for unconference sessions closer to the date. We’ll meet in small groups and discuss topics that are of interest on the day. Everyone can contribute to the conversation, and the main idea is to connect with like-minded people that you can work together with to achieve your common goals.

The Unconference sessions will be facilitated, but there won’t be a single “presenter” as such in the sessions.

PODCAST OF THE WEEK

Better thinking for a better business

Verity Craft is an entrepreneur, writer, consultant, speaker (and musical theatre nerd!) based in Auckland, New Zealand. Together with founder Christina Wedgwood, she’s built content agency Intelligent Ink into the expert on thought leadership content in New Zealand. In this podcast, Verity talks about how you can use thought leadership to become a true authority. She gives examples of what to do and what not to do, as well as tips for starting your better-thinking journey.
