Better Business, Better Life – Issue 94

As we head into another week, I take great pleasure in sharing my curated articles, tips & tools in a short read that will hopefully give you a few ‘aha’ moments as well as some laughter or joy. Most of all I hope it gives you pragmatic inspiration & helps you on your journey to doing what you love, with people you love, making a huge difference, being compensated appropriately with time to pursue other passions – #TheEOSLife.
Here’s this week’s business tip, life hack & find of the week… Some of them are original, most are things I have come across in my weekly pursuit of self-improvement & living a better life, through creating a better business. And don’t forget the inspirational quote, which you can download as a wallpaper or lock screen for your phone.
As always, if you find great things that you’d like to share then feel free to email me for inclusion in one of my weekly newsletters. I’m always looking for new & exciting things to share each week. And if you think someone else would like to receive the newsletter in their inbox, directly from my inbox (no newsletter apps used here!) then please let me know – firstname.lastname@example.org
I anticipate HR will likely play an even bigger role within organisations this year. We saw how beneficial they were, helping to navigate through Covid times and with trends now showing that this year we will have an even larger focus on flexibility, diversity & inclusion and mental health, the HR team will have their work cut out for them.
HR is always working on strategy within the company, employee engagement, training and development, but now is the time to take a step back and redefine how they work. Let’s put some time aside to work on the HRs team strategy and development. EOS has all the tools you need to help increase their workflow, implement measures of success, training and even team building.
HR leaders are going to continue to face a lot of disruptions this year. I’m sure you are all just as nervous as me about what the future of work holds for both employees and employers, so by giving the HR team the tools they need to help with structure, consistency and clarity, they can continue to put both the companies and their best foot forward.
Ready to trick your brain?
Have you got your work/ life/ exercise balance down pact, or are you a little bit like me – very inconsistent? (I’d like to think I’m consistent, but let’s be honest, no one is perfect!) One week I had my gym bag ready and sitting by the door every morning. For the next 3 weeks, the gym is seeing my automatic payment more frequently than they are seeing me.
Well, 2023, new exercise me – I am going to embrace the tactics in this video and rather than having an end goal in place, I am going to redirect my motivation and ‘enjoy going into battle every day’.
Tricking your brain, which in turn, turns into daily habits. Sounds hard, right? Well, fear not. Utilising these 2 strategies simplifies the process. Changing your mindset and saying, ‘hey, this is important to me’ rather than ‘I need to go because if I don’t, I’m….’ and secondly, the one I am drawn to is habit bunching. Pair it with a habit you already have and look forward to, and then before you know it, you just get used to the second habit too.
I will keep you posted on how I am going throughout the year, and please let me know how you are going to implement these strategies and what positive habits you are planning to build.
FIND OF THE WEEK
From 6 to 60 – Franchising success
If you know me, you will know I love dogs, so I was drawn to this article about Tim and how his implementation of EOS helped him expand his business model. Scent hound went from haircuts to utilising the data of the animals to personalise and curate bespoke wellness and health for pets.
Using the right tools, Tim has been able to grow from 6 locations to over 60 franchises nationwide with a goal of 250 by 2023! So if you are like Tim and aren’t sure where your business may lead but have goals to turn your industry on its head, then have time to read the article, get some inspiration and take the leap just like Tim.
