Most of all I hope it gives you pragmatic inspiration & helps you on your journey to doing what you love, with people you love, making a huge difference, being compensated appropriately with time to pursue other passions – #TheEOSLife.

Here’s this week’s business tip, life hack & find of the week… Some of them are original, most are things I have come across in my weekly pursuit of self-improvement & living a better life, through creating a better business. And don’t forget the inspirational quote, which you can download as a wallpaper or lock screen for your phone.

As always, if you find great things that you’d like to share then feel free to email me for inclusion in one of my weekly newsletters. I’m always looking for new & exciting things to share each week. Happy families!

It’s almost time for the whole family to get together at Christmas… Exciting, but it doesn’t always turn out as planned!

If you’re not clear about who is doing what, it can end in disaster – speaking from experience 😊

Plus you do need a plan & you may also need to understand the rules of the game for the family. Who wears what hat, who has a vested interest in different things & how it all works together.

The same can be said for a family business. There are some quite unique things about family businesses that create challenges (& opportunities!) & EOS is perfect for helping with these unique issues.

This blog from my colleague, Sara Stern, talks about the 3 favourite tools for the family business:

  • Accountability Chart – who is accountable for what?
  • V/TO – Our 2-page business plan
  • Partnership Rules of the Game – a great resource for not only family businesses but any business that has multiple shareholders

I agree with her that EOS is made for family businesses – I love using the tools with my family business clients, as well as my professional service clients where it’s just like an extended family!

But with Christmas coming, it might be worthwhile doing a mini accountability chart for your family to get you through the day & out the other side 😊

If you’re keen to learn more about the EOS tools & accountability chart, I would love to have a chat with you to see how I can help.

Want to multiply your happiness?

A little like your super power, your Unique Ability® is the activity that you not only love but are great at in business.

If you can spend most of your time working within this space then you will find that life changes significantly for the better. And that’s where the Delegate & Elevate model came from in EOS.

Unique Ability® is a Dan Sullivan / Strategic Coach term & I am a bit of a fan girl of Dan 😊

The work he does with Entrepreneurs is amazing & he also offers a huge amount of his work completely for free.

This month he is offering to multiply your happiness by offering a bundle of goodies that will help you discover your purpose & how you can use it to make life more enjoyable.

“As an entrepreneur, you’ve got a lot on your plate – a team to manage, clients to acquire, finances to organise, fires to put out. But how many of the tasks that take up your time leave you feeling drained? And how many hold you back from focusing on the parts of your business that really matter?

At Strategic Coach®, we—and the more than 20,000 business owners who’ve participated in our program—believe that entrepreneurs should be spending 99% of their working hours within their set of natural talents and passions. In other words, within what we call their Unique Ability®. By discovering what you’re best at and most love to do, and freeing yourself up to focus only on those activities, you become more productive, energised, and creative, and your business grows.

Do your quotes truly represent you?

Many years ago I came across a small NZ business that had launched an online quoting system.

As we ran an events centre & we issued lots of quotes with varying options & products / services, it was getting challenging to come up with a template that we could use that didn’t require a huge amount of work each time to customise it.

So finding a piece of software that not only stored all of your products & services, linked through to your Xero inventory & invoicing, so that you can quickly & easily add them to a quote, it also gives your customers the options to change quantities, pick & choose options & so much more.

You can add images for each product or service plus attachments – pdfs, images, documents etc.

And you can answer questions in the app so that you have a record of the conversations you have had & what you have committed to.

Your clients accept the quote online & it goes straight into Xero as a draft invoice.

There’s so much that I could tell you about it but let’s just say it’s such a great product & we still use it for our workshop space & events.

Here is how they describe their product themselves:

“Quotient delivers fantastic looking quotes every time with the very best possible customer experience. You and your customers deserve it.”

I wanted to give them a shoutout, not only because they offer a great product with great service but they also look after you. When we were going through rough patches in the lockdowns, they offered to help us out – we got emails from real people!

As it says in their footer, this app was ‘Built with love, sweat & tears’…

My favourite customer service quote for the week is…

“There is only one boss. The customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else.” – Sam Walton

You can download this as a wallpaper or lock screen for your phone.
