As we head into another week, I take great pleasure in sharing my curated articles, tips & tools in a short read that will hopefully give you a few ‘aha’ moments as well as some laughter or joy. Most of all I hope it gives you pragmatic inspiration & helps you on your journey to doing what you love, with people you love, making a huge difference, being compensated appropriately with time to pursue other passions – #TheEOSLife.

Here’s this week’s business tip, life hack & find of the week… Some of them are original, most are things I have come across in my weekly pursuit of self-improvement & living a better life, through creating a better business. And don’t forget the inspirational quote, which you can download as a wallpaper or lock screen for your phone.

As always, if you find great things that you’d like to share then feel free to email me for inclusion in one of my weekly newsletters. I’m always looking for new & exciting things to share each week. And if you think someone else would like to receive the newsletter in their inbox, directly from my inbox (no newsletter apps used here!) then please let me know – debra@debrachantry-taylor.com

BETTER BUSINESS

Shared by all isn’t the same as shared with all!

Anyone who has been in any of my EOS workshops or EOS talks, will know that I harp on about how many times you need to share something before it is heard… Any idea what that number is?

Yes, the magic number (aside from 42) is 7!

Seven times before anyone hears it – so as Visionaries we might think we have communicated it but has everyone heard it?

Simply put, your employees can’t share the vision if they don’t know what it is.

As Patrick Lencioni says it best in The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, “If you could get all the people in an organisation rowing in the same direction, you could dominate any industry, in any market, against any competition, at any time.”

This article talks about how you can have everyone not only know your vision but share your vision. It  has links to some of my favourite tools, like the Core Values Speech & the State of the Company Quarterly Update:

And remember the best time to start implementing EOS was before today. The 2nd best time is now! I would love to chat to you about EOS if you’re keen to learn more.

FIND OF THE WEEK

Old People’s Home for 4-year-olds

We stumbled across this because a friend on Facebook recommended it. Steve & I are not great fans of small children, however with a father in a retirement village, I was keen to see what it was about.

It was described on Netflix as, “A unique social experiment that brings together elderly people in a retirement community with a group of four-year-olds.”

By the end of the first episode we were laughing & crying – it is heart-breaking & heart-warming all in the same breath – and we  were completely hooked.

We binge watched all 5 episodes!

So if you’re after something that is not political & just pure & fun then give this a go.

I’m actually looking forward to having our own 4-year old!

INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE

My favourite quote for the week…

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing” – George Bernard Shaw

You can download this a wallpaper or lock screen for your phone.
