Here’s this week’s business tip, life hack & find of the week… Some of them are original, most are things I have come across in my weekly pursuit of self-improvement & living a better life, through creating a better business. And don’t forget the inspirational quote, which you can download as a wallpaper or lock screen for your phone.

As always, if you find great things that you’d like to share then feel free to email me for inclusion in one of my weekly newsletters. I’m always looking for new & exciting things to share each week. BETTER BUSINESS

Are you delegating your genius?

Promoting your most productive team members to managers can positively and negatively affect your business. On the positive side, highly productive team members can motivate and inspire their colleagues, increasing productivity and efficiency.

But it’s important to consider that being a productive individual contributor does not necessarily mean someone is ready to be an effective manager. They may want the promotion but lack the necessary skills needed to manage a team. In this case, the promotion could lead to decreased output and morale as the team struggles under inexperienced or ineffective leadership. In addition, you may have promoted the most productive team members out of their best and most effective positions, also called “delegating your genius”.

BETTER LIFE

Your office space can affect productivity and morale.

Here at Business Action, we have started to refit and renovate our office space.

Here are some ways to make YOUR office look great too:

  1. To start, declutter your workspace and remove any unnecessary items.
  2. Add some greenery with plants, improving air quality and bringing life to the environment.
  3. Consider investing in comfortable, ergonomic office furniture to reduce strain and improve posture.
  4. Decorate with art or posters that inspire and motivate and use warm lighting to create a cosy atmosphere (preferably not fluorescent lighting).
  5. Finally, choose a colour scheme that promotes focus and creativity, such as blues, greens, and neutral tones.

By making some of these simple changes, you can improve your office into a more pleasant and productive space.

FIND OF THE WEEK

No time to get out into nature?

Denise recently read THE SALT PATH by Raynor Wynn and discovered that reading a well-written outdoor adventure can be therapy. She said, “I felt refreshed, and it was almost as if I was out there in the wild”.

So, if you can’t enjoy the outdoors just now (Hello, Autumn), try it through the author’s mind’s eye; ramble through forests, follow along on intrepid adventures, and enjoy a little vicarious exercise.

Though it is just a taste of the real thing, reading an outdoor adventure book might be the best medicine until you can plan and embark on your next big adventure!
